While most men played it safe on last night’s red carpet, there were a few risk-takers amongst all the soot. From McConaughey’s forest green velvet tux, to Usher’s diamond encrusted brooch, the following actors weren’t afraid to show off their stylish side. Playing the dapper character quite nicely, they all receive (or their stylist) a Golden Globe in the category for “Best Dressed Dude.”

As I bid farewell to yet another year, I look forward to what the new one has in-store for me. Every year I set goals for myself to achieve, and this year I’ve decided to push the bar even higher. I can’t wait to let you in on all the new partnerships and collaborations that are happening in 2014. I’m also excited to be expanding the blog with new features showcasing lots more photos and cool videos, via the styleTV channel.
With that said, as I look back upon the last 365 days, I’m grateful for all the love and support that has been shown to me throughout the year. Inspiration is everywhere and I recently found it Brooklyn. Home to famous faces like Jay-Z, Mos Def and Eddie Murphy, this city is full of creative energy. Having played the backdrop for my latest shoot, I couldn’t help but become completely mesmerized by several blocks of murals tagged by famous graffiti artists in Bushwick. I don’t like being told what to do, but when there’s a $4,000 dollar shopping spree on the line, I’ll do whatever I need to do (legally) to win it. If you know me personally, you’re already aware that chocolate and shopping are two of my weaknesses. If you don’t, now you do!
With that said, I was invited to enter the global style campaign taking place during the month of November by Mrporter.com. A fan of the designers they carry, I thought I would enter the following look via Instagram showing off my personal style to the world. I also thought it would be fun to accompany the submitted photo with a cool get the look feature, since I am in it to win it.

Motorcycle jackets have earned themselves the nickname “moto” since becoming a staple season after season. If you’re looking to add a bit of badassness to your wardrobe, this is the piece that will surely make you feel like your living on the edge. From Givenchy to Armani, the biker-inspired leather jackets were being shown over all the runways again last February, but with a bit of a makeover. From different colors to innovative detailing, designers decided to give their take on the edgy skin. If you’re planning to purchase, I suggest investing. Yes, you will pay more now, but will have it for years to come to enjoy. With only 55 days left until Christmas, it might not be a bad idea to ask Santa to add one to your list. Just a helpful thought!

As we near the end of October, the fall chill has already started to settle in. Although not quite ready to completely bundle up, layering has begun for me. One piece I enjoy sporting around town is a tweed blazer. For those unaware, tweed is a great material to wear this time of year because of its durability and resistance to a little rain. Not to mention, the slightly heavier material makes for the perfect informal outerwear. Designers would agree being that this was a dominate trend, along with herringbone and pinstripe, shown throughout F/W 2013 collections. A great tip-Keep a scarf close by (another of my fall favorites) for those unexpected windy moments.

Rules are meant to be broken and in fashion it happens all the time. One that is under constant scrutiny is the dilemma of wearing white after Labor day. A favorite of mine to ignore, it’s now getting its long overdue stamp of approval on the runways. With more and more designers extending this summer favorite into their F/W collections, it looks as if white isn’t cutting its unexpected trip anytime soon.

There are some trends that are tricky to wear and lace is one them. Even celebrities have a hard time getting it right. Take Marc Jacobs for example. His lace frock might be great as a shirt, but as full-length dress I’m going to have to give it a no no. No man OR woman should ever attempt lace in this way. Sorry Marc! On the other hand, queen of reality television, Kim Kardashion, has pulled off the trend quite beautifully and looks youthful in this Valentino lace cocktail style dress. A great tip to keep in mind when attempting lace is to rock it in a bold color like red, blue or yellow for a luminous fresh glow. For more great tips-Click here!
This past Sunday marked the 55th annual Grammy awards in Los Angeles. With the new dress code in effect, the red carpet seemed a bit safe. While some followed the new rules, others had us doing a double take, literally. We even saw one diva show up in “grandma couch fashion,” as my co-host Keleigh Nealon has now coined the phrase. Denim Days
I’ve always been a fan of denim and lately I seem to be digging it a lot. Working in a creative field allows for the dress code to be a bit more relaxed. Whether I’m in a rush or not feeling my best, I tend to count on the most comfortable denim in my wardrobe to get me through the day. Among my go-to slacks and shirts, I’m looking forward to rocking my favorite denim jackets this season. A blast from the past, the runways were full of them replacing the basic blazer.
