Mr. Moto

Motorcycle jackets have earned themselves the nickname “moto” since becoming a staple season after season.  If you’re looking to add a bit of badassness to your wardrobe, this is the piece that will surely make you feel like your living on the edge.  From Givenchy to Armani, the biker-inspired leather jackets were being shown over all the runways again last February, but with a bit of a makeover.  From different colors to innovative detailing, designers decided to give their take on the edgy skin.   If you’re planning to purchase, I suggest investing.  Yes, you will pay more now, but will have it for years to come to enjoy.   With only 55 days left until Christmas, it might not be a bad idea to ask Santa to add one to your list.  Just a helpful thought!

Trick or Tweed

As we near the end of October, the fall chill has already started to settle in.  Although not quite ready to completely bundle up, layering has begun for me.  One piece I enjoy sporting around town is a tweed blazer.  For those unaware, tweed is a great material to wear this time of year because of its durability and resistance to a little rain.  Not to mention, the slightly heavier material makes for the perfect informal outerwear.  Designers would agree being that this was a dominate trend, along with herringbone and pinstripe, shown throughout F/W 2013 collections.  A great tip-Keep a scarf close by (another of my fall favorites) for those unexpected windy moments.

Opposites Attract

The perfect mix, black & white have played a huge part of designers collections for decades.  Chanel, Calvin Klein and Dior are just a few names that have set trends with this color combo.  Now, pretty much apart of their DNA and many others, it continues to show up on the runways season after season.  Some may argue those who tend to embrace it are just playing it safe.  I myself was never a fan until recently.  If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve been wearing it like crazy.   I’m not sure if my style has evolved to this or a phase I may be going through.  What I can I tell you, is that I’ve been loving how designers have been showing it for the past couple seasons.  From stripes, to leather, to the pairing with neons and metallics, I simply just can’t get enough.

Indian Summer

I’ve been loving lately that traces of summer seem to still be lingering here in the Northeast. With temperatures allowing us to extend the use of our summer staples just a little longer, I’m not completely ready to dive into full fall attire.  Keeping in touch with summer, yet starting to call on fall, marrying these two seasons when it comes to your look can sometimes be tricky.  A simple tip to avoid feeling completely out of season? Mix and match your accessories!  It also doesn’t hurt to keep things neutral for a seasonless touch.

Trend Alert: Extended Stay

Rules are meant to be broken and in fashion it happens all the time. One that is under constant scrutiny is the dilemma of wearing white after Labor day.  A favorite of mine to ignore, it’s now getting its long overdue stamp of approval on the runways.  With more and more designers extending this summer favorite into their F/W collections, it looks as if white isn’t cutting its unexpected trip anytime soon.

Click of the camera

A phrase that was coined by Frances Grill, one of the creators behind CLICK Model Management.  33 years later, now a top modeling agency in the United States presently representing over 1000 fresh faces, CLICK continues to turn unknown names into recognizable icons.  To name a few, Isabella Rossellini, Uma Thurman, Whitney Houston, Elle MacPherson and Grace Jones were all discovered by the agency. Not only have they created careers for these famous females, but have also shown support with the expansion of their men’s, plus-size and talent divisions.

This past fashion week, styleTV was lucky enough to chat with some of their rising stars at their #NYFW Kick-off party.  One of my favorites, Parker Gregory, who was recently shot for one of Louis Vuitton’s iconic ad campaigns, tells us why he has called CLICK his home for over 9 years.  Other clients who attended the event included industry names like Nautica, Sears, J.Crew, and DVF.  To view other highlights of the evening-Click to watch!
