Let the Judging Begin!

This Sunday, I will be venturing off to the Hyatt 48 Lex here in New York to begin the judging process of the 6th Annual Handbag Designer Awards hosted by Handbag Designer 101.  A very fun and long day ahead me, I’m most excited about previewing the next big names when it comes to THE must-have accessory.

Last year’s big winner was Clara Kasavina, who submitted this gem for the Red Carpet Ready Evening Bag category.  I can remember sitting at the table a bit bored and BAM the whole room gasped with excitement.  We all knew we had found a diamond in the rough (literally).

Their win resulted in a feature in September’s Issue of Instyle Magazine, and you can now find them in just about any major retailer, editorial, or red carpet.

I myself absolutely love pulling them for celebrity clients.  Supermodel Coco Rocha fell in love with this crystal minaudiere and ring which she wore to the 2011 WGSN Global Fashion Awards held here in New York.

Who will be this year’s winner?

J.Hilburn Fitting

This past Friday I had the pleasure of meeting Jon Patrick, the Creative Director of J.Hilburn.   I stopped by his studio in midtown for a quick fitting before he was off to Italy for a week long trip.  In June, I will be on the red carpet for the 2012 Handbag Designer Awards partnered with Instyle Magazine, and they offered to dress me for the big event.  We literally started from scratch picking out fabrics from a basic button-down, to a tie, to even a custom-made double breasted navy blue pin-striped suit.  Oh how the tables have turned since usually I am the one directing the fitting.  Hey, I don’t mind being a model for the day.  Take a look at some great photos we shot.

So many choices to choose from!

The master at work!

I like a little pop of my ankle to show!

Love the pop color under the lapel!

When Denim and Motorcycles Procreate

Last Friday, I was invited to an event in Brooklyn, Williamsburg to be exact, which happened to be a collaboration between  PRPS Goods & Co., a well known fashion brand most notably known for their denim, and The Selvedge Yard, a hugely popular blog focusing on menswear product.  We were there to celebrate the birth of The Blackbird Jean, which was inspired by the 1953 Triumph Blackbird (they even had one at the event).   I had a great time mingling with friends, and had the pleasure of meeting Donwan Harrell, the designer of the famous PRPS denim that some people can’t seem to get enough of.  Take a look at some great snapshots I captured from the night!

An actual 1953 Triumph Blackbird!

I loved this photo!

The black hardware and Thunderbird inspired stitching on the back pocket pay homage to the iconic motorcycle.

Color Overload

I recently sat down with Caitlin Gambee, the Boston Fashion Examiner for, to discuss one of Spring’s hottest trends-Color, more specifically denim.   As you can already tell from the runways, to the red carpets, to the racks of pretty much every major retailer there’s no chance of avoiding it.  It’s everywhere!

One of my favorite quotes in this article is, “McDonald explained to us, how as opposed to plain blue jeans, women feel they are better able to express themselves with bright color options!.”

I can honestly say, I love a women who can embrace color into her wardrobe. Will you be sporting this trend this season? Who are your favorite denim designers/brands?

Ahmee eHow

Last minute pulls have been made and preparation is underway for another style series with eHow.  We are getting excited to be shooting at Ahmee Boutique in the heart of the West Village here in New York City.  A trendy shop that sells a variety of different fashions for men, women and children, becomes a one stop destination for the entire family.

I met with the owner Heloise last week and she is ecstatic to be having us film at her location.  She told me the original plan was for a pop-up shop, but have since then been open for two years.  They must be doing something right since rumor has it, this place is a hot spot for celebrities who live in the area.

By the way, check out these sunglasses I found by SUPER.  It was love at first site!

What’s your favorite place to shop in New York City?

The Colors of Spring

This evening was all about color and literally it was everywhere at the debut of the Chromatic Gallerie Collection here in New York City.  I could barely keep my focus on one thing before being distracted by something else.  The pop-up shop set-up into different color schemes showcased a variety of fashions with a little something for everyone.  Take a look at what I found!

I’m seeing Stingray everywhere these days!

My latest Obsession are Skull bracelets-I can’t get enough of them!

Lunch Date with Handbags and Shoes

Things may be starting to heat up in the city, but in fashion we’re already thinking Fall.  Earlier today, I had the pleasure of checking out one of my go-to destinations to pull for anything red carpet here in the city, Network Showroom.  They had a press preview for designers like R & Y Augousti, SW1 (Stuart Weitzman‘s new accessory line), Alexandre Birman Shoes, and Victor Hugo Bags.  I literally fell in love with everything I saw however, there were some pieces that I just couldn’t leave without snapping a photo.

These three minaudiere’s by R & Y Augousti particularly caught my eye.  Many of the pieces I saw from their collection had some type of stingray or python detailing.  I especially loved the mixing of both skins!

I’m told the new SW1 line designed by Creative Director Alvaro Gonzalez was inspired by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava with a 1930’s art deco undertone.  So clean and chic-I love it!

Couldn’t resist taking a photo of these spotted pony hair boots by SW1!

One of my favorite bags from the SW1 line I just had to get it on a PR girl to see how it hangs.  BTW-Check out her shoes!

These shoes my Alexandre Birman were designed with Water snakeskin.  They felt so smooth!

It was all color for Victor Hugo and these two pieces just jumped out at me.

Which is your favorite?

Bags that Won’t Break the Bank

My most recent obsession seemed to have started  in the early 1900’s  in Wick, Scotland.   Today, The Herschel Supply Co., have come a long way and are now taking on the world of fashion, more specifically handbags.  I have to admit, I don’t know to much about the brand but would really like to find out more.

I will say this, one aspect of the line that intrigued me the most was their price point.  Literally almost every bag is under $100!  One of my favorite’s is a tote named “Harvest” that I will absolutely be sporting this Spring around town and to the beach this summer.  Besides the price being just right, the designs are simple and chic and the colors are bold and vibrant.   They are even donating 10% of their proceeds in sales to a friend in need fighting cancer.  What’s not to love?!

I hope to maybe give you guys an inside look and meet the creators finding out more about their latest collection.  Stay tuned!
