Indian Summer

I’ve been loving lately that traces of summer seem to still be lingering here in the Northeast. With temperatures allowing us to extend the use of our summer staples just a little longer, I’m not completely ready to dive into full fall attire.  Keeping in touch with summer, yet starting to call on fall, marrying these two seasons when it comes to your look can sometimes be tricky.  A simple tip to avoid feeling completely out of season? Mix and match your accessories!  It also doesn’t hurt to keep things neutral for a seasonless touch.

Trend Alert: Extended Stay

Rules are meant to be broken and in fashion it happens all the time. One that is under constant scrutiny is the dilemma of wearing white after Labor day.  A favorite of mine to ignore, it’s now getting its long overdue stamp of approval on the runways.  With more and more designers extending this summer favorite into their F/W collections, it looks as if white isn’t cutting its unexpected trip anytime soon.

Boys who love bows

The bow-tie has clearly made a comeback.  More and more men (and some women) are choosing to wear it over your basic straight tie.  I personally have consumed quite the collection over the past several years. I’m particularly in love with one in my wardrobe designed by Alfred Julius  made entirely from raw denim. I get so many compliments when wearing it as it is quite unique.

Unfortunately, the summer heat has prevented me from really wanting to sport one as I like to stay comfortable and casual during the warmer seasons.  However, now that the cooler months are quickly approaching, I’m ready to bow-it-up again.  From celebrities, to athletes, to politicians, to even the ticket booth guy at my local movie theatre, they all have one thing in common-they’re boys who love bows.

Shirt: Calvin Klein Collection, Denim: Citizens of Humanity, Bow-tie: Alfred Julius, Shoes: Grenson, Briefcase: Bombata, Sunglasses: Eyebobs, Watch: Skagen

The 10 Most GQ Summer Looks

They like me…They really really like me…Well at least GQ says they do.  They recently chose a photo of me that was submitted by my friend Mary who shot it for their “10 Most GQ Summer Looks” feature for GQ.com.  I was notified this past Saturday evening that I was was being featured on their website.  I was a bit caught off guard as it was a surprise, but a good one indeed.  I’m a huge fan of the iconic men’s magazine.  It’s always a pleasure to read and now be recognized by them and their editors.   Thanks guys for selecting me-very humbled and honored.

Snap, crackle, pop!

As I’ve mentioned before, summer is a time to relax and let loose a litte.  This is also true when it comes to my wardrobe.  I don’t like dressing up (unless it’s required) as the heat really gets to me.  Feeling cool and casual is the name of the game.

Since I’m an individual who is constantly on-the-go, I need to be prepared for anything that might pop-up unexpectedly.  During the work week, if you happen to run into me, this is the type of look you will most likely find me in.  I can’t get enough of a classic style blazer over a simple tank.  I’ve practically been living in it all season long.  Semi-casual at its simplest, and perfect for both men and women to rock.

Summer Fridays

Fridays just got a whole lot easier thanks to summer.   A time to disconnect from your regular routine, it’s all about keeping the weeks short and weekends sweeter.  With just 93 days to spare, many of us will be dashing off to the nearest beach or lake to focus on our tranquility, tan or tequila intake.

Aside from loosing some focus at work, I like to do the same when it comes to my wardrobe.  If you’re like me who sweats at the mere thought of humidity; staying dry is the name of the game.  A relaxed look is what I’m all about, and avoiding any wardrobe malfunctions is the perfect summer, if you ask me.

Let the dog days begin!

Boysenberry

This Friday marks the official start of summer, and although many of you might be gearing up for this years season, us fashion folks are already looking ahead to 2014.  The kick-off started this past Sunday with the men up first showing collections in London.   A 3-day event, something a bit out of the ordinary was the presence of one of my favorite designers; Mr. Bailey for Burberry Prorsum.  Usually showing in Milan, I quickly found out he decided to come home.

After checking out the collection via Style.com, I have to say I was bit disappointed.  Falling in love with him for his staunchy youthful appeal, I didn’t feel that yesterday.  Where were the bold patterns, studs and sick bags?  A bit bland, it was definitely lacking some luster if you ask me.  I’m no Tim Blanks but anybody could see that this collection took a step back and not forward.  Just turning 30, I want to look 20, not 40.

What did look youthful to me was the use of bold color throughout.  From the ties, to the jackets, to the shoes, to even the sunglasses, it was a runway full of boys in berry hues.  Refreshing to see, it looks as if next summer could possibly resemble one of my favorite desserts. Yum!
