With spring just day’s away, I thought I would start to warm things up with a behind-the-scenes look into a recent shoot we shot here in New York for designer Rinat Brodach’s S/S 14 campaign.

I recently checked out Shauns Shades S/S 2014 collection at The Modern at MOMA. Raising my hand to admit I have an obsession with sunglasses, I fell in love with their Earlsferry in a matte camo green finish. Not only did they fit my face perfectly, but the Carl Zeiss lenses made my view picture perfect. The LA-based eyewear brand also gives back in a big way with their “Give Sight” commitment. When you purchase a pair, it triggers one more pair of glasses to be given to someone in need. To learn more, check out styleTV’s recent interview with the designer Shaun Paterson and supermodel Chanel Iman here.
Camo commanded its presence on the runways for fall. Designers flocked to this particular print giving their take on the masking motif. I particularly prefer something more authentic when it comes to this type of pattern, but couldn’t resist purchasing this button-down from J-Crew. It looked so real and for the price I couldn’t pass it up. Anywho, when it comes to wearing anything military-inspired, I’m not a fan of dressing full on. I suggest focusing on one piece like a jacket, shirt or trousers. Then mix it up with other trends from the season. Keeps it a bit unexpected if you ask me!

The perfect mix, black & white have played a huge part of designers collections for decades. Chanel, Calvin Klein and Dior are just a few names that have set trends with this color combo. Now, pretty much apart of their DNA and many others, it continues to show up on the runways season after season. Some may argue those who tend to embrace it are just playing it safe. I myself was never a fan until recently. If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve been wearing it like crazy. I’m not sure if my style has evolved to this or a phase I may be going through. What I can I tell you, is that I’ve been loving how designers have been showing it for the past couple seasons. From stripes, to leather, to the pairing with neons and metallics, I simply just can’t get enough.
Rules are meant to be broken and in fashion it happens all the time. One that is under constant scrutiny is the dilemma of wearing white after Labor day. A favorite of mine to ignore, it’s now getting its long overdue stamp of approval on the runways. With more and more designers extending this summer favorite into their F/W collections, it looks as if white isn’t cutting its unexpected trip anytime soon.

Now that the weather has started to take on a whole new feeling, outerwear will begin to play a role in our wardrobe choices. One of my all-time favorites for fall is a trench coat. An essential, its classic structure makes it one of the most versatile jackets on the market today. By tradition, this cool-weather staple is one that will last you a lifetime.

Next week marks the official end of summer and start of the autumnal equinox. A favorite season of mine to show off the latest fashions, don’t stow away your summer collection just yet. There are a few short weeks where the weather continues to adjust to its new home. This transitional period, as I like to call it, is a great time to still sport some of your summer staples, while starting to incorporate your fall favorites.

Last week, I was invited to attend a roundtable discussion with a group of other entrepreneurs here in New York. It was great to meet other like minded individuals with the drive for being their own boss. From a CEO to a major tech company, to an emerging handbag designer, one thing we all had in common was the passion for what we did; an element for success.
With that said, I was asked to wear dark colors since we were going to be filmed. I thought it would be fun to do a quick shoot before I headed over, and called on one of my photographer friends to capture my look for the day.
If you haven’t already noticed, stores are starting to look like berry patches as the color was a huge hit on the runways for fall. Buyers bought and are now filling up their selves with different tones from this particular palette. I can’t wait to rock all the cool fall trends and got a bit of a head start on this one.
As I’ve mentioned before, summer is a time to relax and let loose a litte. This is also true when it comes to my wardrobe. I don’t like dressing up (unless it’s required) as the heat really gets to me. Feeling cool and casual is the name of the game.
Since I’m an individual who is constantly on-the-go, I need to be prepared for anything that might pop-up unexpectedly. During the work week, if you happen to run into me, this is the type of look you will most likely find me in. I can’t get enough of a classic style blazer over a simple tank. I’ve practically been living in it all season long. Semi-casual at its simplest, and perfect for both men and women to rock.

A couple months ago, styleTV sent Correspondent Charlii, to check out Shauns Eyewear’s latest collection at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in New York. The California-based brand, recently collaborated with director Jenna Elizabeth, who’s most famously known for shooting subjects like Erin Wasson, Julianne Moore, and Kanye West, and has been featured in publications like W Magazine, NY Magazine, Vogue Italia, and Elle Italia. The result? A 5-minute short film titled “Spectral” featuring supermodel Chanel Iman and lots of Vuitton. The entire flik can be seen exclusively at Vfiles which debuted June 18th. Event attendees included Alessandra Codinha, Fatima Siad, Gertrud Hansen, Kelly and Emily Framel, Cameron Richardson, Lauren Levinger, and May Kwok. My favorite pair you ask? The Wee Earlsberry in Matt Gray Crystal. I MUST have!
P.S.-A #Fashion4good shout out to the luxury brand for creating their “Give Sight” program. For every pair you purchase, they will give a pair to someone in need in a developing country. Love!
